description
Tank emptying device
Technical area
The invention relates to a tank emptying device for fresh water tanks of rail vehicles.
State of the art
Rail vehicles, in particular passenger rail vehicles often include fresh water tanks for the supply of wet rooms, kitchens or the like. As these tanks contain drinking water, they can freeze when the vehicle is at a standstill in cold weather. This danger does not exist during operation of the vehicle, since the tanks are generally arranged in the heated interior, typically in the ceiling above the wet cell. If the contents of a fresh water tank are frozen, the vehicle can not be used because the sanitary facilities are not ready for operation and must be heated in a heated hall. Due to the large amounts of water of about 300 liters, such a process can take several days. If lines are damaged by the freezing of the water, they must be repaired. To solve this problem rail vehicles are equipped with fresh water tanks with automatic emptying devices, which drain below a certain temperature of the tank a filled tank by means of a drain valve. These devices require an electrical power supply, which takes place at parked vehicles by an on-board battery. It is necessary this 2/14 1 201201872
To run the emptying devices energy saving in order to maintain the protection over a longer period of time (several weeks). Furthermore, the emptying should not make false alarms, since such a vehicle (with empty fresh water tank) can be used only very limited or the refilling can only be done in certain stations.
Presentation of the invention
The invention is therefore based on the object to provide a tank emptying device for fresh water tanks of rail vehicles, which prevents false triggering and is energy efficient.
The object is achieved by a tank emptying device with the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are the subject of the subordinate claims.
According to the basic idea of the invention, a tank emptying device for a fresh water tank of a rail vehicle is constructed, wherein a thermal switch is thermally coupled to the fresh water and when falling below a certain temperature of the tank controls a timer, which thereby opens a drain valve for a certain period of time, and wherein the thermal switch is arranged on a drain line.
As a result, the advantage can be achieved, a
Rail tank fresh water tank to be able to empty automatically when it falls below a certain minimum temperature. 3/14 2 201201872
According to the invention, a thermal switch is provided, which is arranged so that it can detect the temperature of the fresh water. In particular, it is advantageous to arrange the thermal switch on those parts of the tank, or the drainage system, which are clogged by freezing water when sinking the outside temperature first. The drain line carries the water out of the car body to the outside and is directly exposed to the ambient temperature, so that the thermal switch is to be arranged on this discharge line. Furthermore, an iced discharge line would prevent draining the tank anyway.
An embodiment of the invention provides for a thermal switch to be used with a difference between the switch-on value and the switch-off value of less than 5 Kelvin. Conventional thermal switches have much larger switching point differences, so that the emptying is initiated at much higher temperatures than required. Conventional thermal switches have neither the required switching point accuracy nor the required low switching point hysteresis. With a thermal switch according to the invention (precision thermo switch), the triggering temperature can be dimensioned significantly closer to zero degrees Celsius, typically to a value of 2 degrees Celsius. Such a thermal switch has an accuracy of one degree Celsius, so that the emptying is initiated in any case between one and three degrees Celsius.
Conventional thermostats on the other hand have to be set to much higher temperatures because of their inaccuracies, and in particularly unfavorable cases emptying occurs already at about ten degrees Celsius. 4/14 3 201201872
The switch-off threshold can be set to a value of four degrees Celsius due to the high precision of the thermal switch according to the invention, so that the thermal switch at an accuracy of one degree Celsius interrupts the emptying, at least in a temperature range between three and five degrees Celsius. Such a thermal switch has a difference between the switch-on value and the switch-off value of less than 5 Kelvin.
Common tank emptying facilities are equipped with a device for level measurement, such is not required in objective invention.
As a result, the advantage can be achieved to be able to achieve a reduction in the energy consumption of the tank emptying device, since the level measurement is usually carried out with an ultrasonic sensor and such requires for the operation of electrical energy.
The current level of the fresh water tank is immaterial in physical tank emptying device, since the thermal switch controls a timer, which opens a drain valve for a certain period.
This period is based on the volume of the tank and the discharge rate per time by the discharge line agree, so that the tank is emptied in any case. In this case, the timer is typically set in conventional tanks to a discharge duration of 30 minutes.
A further embodiment of the invention provides, not to supply the power supply of the timer continuously with voltage, but also to remove this power supply from the signal switched by the thermal switch. In this way, the energy consumption of the tank emptying device can be reduced to zero during the time it takes to trigger 5/14 4 201201872 (start of emptying). A thermal switch has no energy consumption, the timer connected by it consumes energy only during the emptying, as well as the controlled by the timer drain valve. In this way, a tank emptying device can be set up which only minimally loads the vehicle power supply and thereby ensures the longest possible service life of the tank emptying device for a specific battery capacity.
Brief description of the drawings
They show by way of example:
Fig.l tank emptying device according to the prior art. Fig.2 Tank emptying device.
3 circuit of a tank emptying device.
Embodiment of the invention
Fig.l shows an example and schematically a tank emptying device according to the prior art. It is a fresh water tank 1 of a rail vehicle shown, which has an inflow 3, a discharge line 5 for supplying consumers such as sinks or kitchens and a drain 4 for emptying the tank 1. The drain 4 is equipped with a drain valve 2, which is electrically actuated and openable whereby the 6/14 5 201201872
Contents of the tank 1 flows into the open. A control device 9 receives sensor signals from an ultrasonic sensor 8 and a thermal switch 7. The ultrasonic sensor 8 determines the current level of the tank 1, the thermal switch 7 determines the temperature of the tank 1 and the water contained therein and gives when falling below a certain temperature a signal to the control device 9 from. This control device 9 determines from the signals of the thermal switch 7 and the ultrasonic sensor, the need for emptying, for example, an empty tank even when it falls below a certain temperature no longer leads to an opening of the drain valve 2. The control device 9 controls a timer 6, which opens the drain valve 2 for a certain period of time after this activation.
2 shows by way of example and schematically a tank emptying device. It is a tank emptying device according to the invention is shown, wherein the tank 1 is substantially unchanged. There is a thermal switch 7 is provided, which is arranged on the outlet 4. By mounting in this position, the thermal switch 7 can detect a triggering temperature early, since this point cools much faster than the tank 1. The thermal switch 7 controls directly a timer 6, which opens the drain valve 2 for a certain period. An ultrasonic sensor 8 or other filling level determination is not provided since such is not required in a tank emptying device according to the invention. 7/14 6 201201872
3 shows by way of example and schematically a circuit of a tank emptying device. The electrical circuit of a tank emptying device according to the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 2 is shown. The thermal switch 7 is shown in the open state, that is at a higher temperature than the triggering temperature. A power supply V is led to a terminal of the thermal switch 7. This can be taken directly from the vehicle battery. The output of the thermal switch 7 is guided both to the control input and to the power supply input of the timer 6. The timer 6 further includes a ground terminal. The output of the timer 6 is guided to the control terminal of the drain valve 2. This circuit has at rest no energy consumption, whereby the energy stored in the vehicle battery is sufficient for a much longer operation and thus a much longer protective effect by the tank emptying device. After triggering of the thermal switch 7 and continue low outside temperature of the power consumption of the timer 6 remains as an electrical load on the vehicle battery. However, this is acceptable because the tank emptying device has already developed its protective effect. 8/14 7 201201872 1 tank 5 2 drain valve 3 inflow 4 drain, drain 5 extraction line 6 timer 10 7 thermal switch 8 ultrasonic sensor 9 control device V Power supply
